Obsessive Compulsive Concerns (OCD)

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) involves unwanted thoughts, images, or urges, and repetitive actions done to reduce anxiety or prevent something bad.

Many people have intrusive thoughts or habits at times. In OCD, these become persistent, distressing, and can interfere with daily life.

Support can help manage symptoms and improve wellbeing.

Signs & Symptoms of OCD

OCD affects everyone differently, but common experiences include:

Obsessions may involve:

  • Fears of harming others or making mistakes

  • Worries about contamination or germs

  • Needing things to feel “just right”

  • Unwanted taboo or violent thoughts

  • Doubts about safety or responsibility

Compulsions may involve:

  • Checking things repeatedly

  • Excessive cleaning or washing

  • Counting, repeating words or prayers

  • Seeking reassurance from others

  • Mental reviewing or neutralising thoughts

These rituals or behaviours may provide temporary relief but tend to strengthen the cycle of distress over time.
